"NYC PUNK LEGEND" SONNY VINCENT TO TOUR U.S. WITH ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT TO PROMOTE NEW ALBUM
VINCENT heads out in support of his soon to be released CD The Good, The Bad, The Ugly (Acetate Records), slated for release March 18. The tour begins in Denver, CO on March 15 and crisscrosses the country before winding up in Los Angeles on April 24. This will be VINCENT's first American concert appearances in six years. Serving as VINCENT's band on this tour will be three members of Rocket From The Crypt: John "Speedo" Reis on guitar, The Notorious N.D. on bass, and Mario Rubalcaba on drums. VINCENT will be front and center on vocals.
VINCENT is the musician about whom Joey Ramone once said: "His music - Urgent, raw and wild. Exciting, harrowing songs with a unique vocal delivery. A great songwriter with something to say. I am a fan!" Former leader of the original NYC punks The Testors, VINCENT has performed or toured with bands including The Cramps, Suicide and The Dead Boys. His infamous history encompasses solo records and tours featuring line ups including Scott Asheton (The Stooges), Greg Norton (Husker Du) and Bob Stinson (The Replacements), as well as playing in a band with Moe Tucker and Sterling Morrison of The Velvet Underground. With the release of The Good, The Bad, The Ugly, VINCENT unleashes his own 14-song punk testament recorded in Detroit, NYC, Los Angeles and London with the musicians who reign over those scenes.
VINCENT's last album was 2000's Hell's Kitchen; it had limited U.S. distribution as a European import. Previous releases by his band The Testors were released in Europe and trickled out to America, making them collector's items and rare, cherished finds. It was due to these records that the RFTC members became such fans. VINCENT's last US dates were a handful of NYC shows and some scattered East Coast dates in 1997 with Scott Asheton (Stooges) and Steve Baise (Devil Dogs). At one of the NYC dates at the late, lamented Coney Island High VINCENT was introduced by Joey Ramone, and in the audience were such luminary fans as Wayne Kramer and Dee Dee Ramone.
The Good, The Bad, The Ugly features VINCENT on vocals and guitar, and boasts special appearances by a slew of rock's greatest musicians. In addition to Scott Asheton (The Stooges) on drums and Captain Sensible (The Damned) on bass, the fantasy line up of guests includes: Wayne Kramer (MC5), Scott Morgan (Sonic Rendezvous), Walter Lure (The Heartbreakers), Robert Quine and Ivan Julian (Richard Hell and the Voidoids), Richard Lloyd (Television), Brian James (Damned/Lords of the New Church), Bob "Derwood" Andrews (Generation X), James Escavedo (The Zeros), Cliff Roman (The Weirdos), Kim Shattuck (The Muffs), Thurston Moore and Jim O'Rourke (Sonic Youth), and newcomers Jimmy James (The Hangmen), Tony Fate (The Bellrays) and Dave James (The Superbees). The album promises to be the definitive punk rock record of 2003.
VINCENT has long been a favorite of rock journalists. Maximumrocknroll said: "Furious punk and roll that will more than likely knock your socks off." 2003 is already shaping up as a year of amazing convergence for Punk Rock icons and newer bands so heavily influenced by SONNY VINCENT. The Good, The Bad, The Ugly is destined to be the one album no fan should have to live without.
