Canadian Punk Rock Band Speaks Out!
September 14, 2004 -- Canadian rock/punk/metal band Inner Surge (www.innersurge.com) has recently released their new album "Matrika", an intense CD offering that contains more than it's share of scorching remarks about the current state of international affairs.
Lines such as "Attacking markets with bombs, You'd better sing the redemption song"(Silencer) and " Peace he preaches now as if he knows what it means, and uses it's power to forge patriotic dreams"(The Deepest Wound) Not to say that it's all the band talks about, but they definitely don't shy away from the tough topics. The album has been compared to the likes of Rage Against the Machine, Refused and Tool, and has received strong reviews so far.
Vocalist Steve Moore recently told Metal-Only.com "The reason that Iraq is an issue is because it did not need to become an issue. The proof was not there, so it was forged. This is the point that Michael Moore's critics are sorely missing. This is a crime. You cannot say it any clearer than that. Certainly there is much more going on, but it seems many people are confused, and it is beneficial to focus on some key points, and the general conduct of the Bush administration.
You don't bowl over the United Nations because you want something done right away. To be a leader, you must have patience, and it saddens me that the deaths in Iraq are rarely presented to us in North America, especially the civilian deaths. There's no excuse for it."
